The Assessment Process

Autism or ASD/ADHD Combined Assessment

Stage 1:

Complimentary brief Pre-assessment phone call to clarify your needs

If you choose to go ahead with the assessment, we will send a range of online tests to complete at home online and return PRIOR to your first in person appointment with your psychologist. These questionnaires generally take less than 30 minutes to complete and will inform and shorten the assessment duration if they can be completed beforehand.

Stage 2:

Comprehensive Diagnostic Interview and Observations

(Approx. 1.5-2 hours)

In person in-depth structured interview with your psychologist about your life experiences covering a number of topics. You are welcome to bring a partner/parent or someone else who knows you well to help provide information for the assessment. The purpose of this appointment is to collect comprehensive information that allows us to form a well-reasoned diagnostic opinion tailored specifically to your individual circumstances.

Stage 3:

Comprehensive Diagnostic Testing

(1.5 to 3 hours)

This appointment involves face to face administration of specific diagnostic tests depending on the type of assessment being completed.

Stage 4:

Integration, Interpretation and Written Report

(2 to 3 weeks later)

Your psychologist will then take a period of time to score, interpret and integrate all the gathered information to form a clinical diagnosis. A comprehensive report will be provided, summarising the entire process, key findings, and a professional opinion regarding a potential autism or Autism/ADHD diagnosis. The report is written in clear, easy-to-understand language and focuses on practical, real-world applications.

Stage 5:

Appointment for Report Feedback and Next Steps

The in-person feedback session offers an opportunity to fully explain the assessment results and provides you with dedicated time to ask any questions. We will provide a comprehensive report with practical recommendations, including supports, resources and referrals that align with your personal goals. The aim of this final appointment is for you to leave feeling informed, understood, and fully supported in terms of future support options.

ADHD Assessments

The same process as above however Stage 3 is of slightly shorter duration.

Your Assessment report includes:
  • A simple explanation of why we did the assessment and how the process worked.

  • A clear account of your educational, medical and personal history.

  • Clear findings from the tests, explaining how they link up to the official criteria for an autism diagnosis.

  • An indication of your unique strengths and areas where you might need more support.

  • Recommendations for ongoing support, like therapy, coaching, or other health services you might find useful down the road.
